Hibscrub Antimicrobial Skin Cleanser 500ml

Containing 4% w/v chlorhexidine gluconate, Hibiscrub is used as a pre-operative surgical hand disinfection, for antiseptic hand washing on the ward and as a post operative skin antisepsis for patients undergoing elective surgery. Effective against a wide range of microbes, Hibiscrub targets several strains of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, yeast, fungi and viruses and reduces bacterial load more efficiently than povidone iodine.

How does it work?
Hibiscrub does not actually absorb into the skin, instead it binds to form a protective layer on the skin that kills bacteria within one minute and continues to do so for up to six hours after the initial application. Hibiscrub is not inactivated by bodily fluids, making it suitable for surgical use.

Does it cause irritation?
Hibiscrub has been dermatologically tested and is proven to be gentle on skin, even with frequent use. This is significant as repeated application of Hibiscrub has been shown to increase its antimicrobial efficacy.
